"My ceramics have been described as having the gift of ‘firing your imagination’. I love that. That’s exactly what I’m hoping it will do.
With a BA in Ceramics and Glass, an MA in Applied Art and Visual Culture, my interest is in the stories that objects hold. Not grand objects, but the kind of domestic, everyday objects that populate our lives.
I like the way that form and surface speak of place and circumstance, how something simple and mundane has the power to evoke memories or spark the imagination and take our mind for a walk.
Each of my pieces is slab-built with a nod towards the playful freedom of my sketchbooks. The surface imagery is created using finely rolled slivers of clay. I attach these in roughly human proportions, then have fun inventing them into people and making up stories. I like to leave an element of ambiguity, enough space to challenge your imagination and make you wonder.
My aim is to spark your inner storyteller. It seems only fair that you should have some fun daydreaming too."
