Sitting Dane
Elaine’s work takes inspiration from the natural world.
Subjects range from farm animals where she started to a variety of wild animals and sea creatures.
All pieces are made with stoneware and porcelain clay and fired to between 1250 c and 1260 c. They are coloured with oxides, glazes and underglazes. The work is made using slab building techniques making each piece a one off.
Textures are created using fabric, brushes tools etc. The clay slabs are stretched and brought to life.
“ My aim is to capture the essence of the beast”.
